Weekly Roundup – 28th August

As mentioned last week,  Falkirk Camera Club photographers have continued their successes on the International Salon of Photography circuit.  After a 2 year break,  due to the pandemic,  the Edinburgh International Exhibition of Photography returned this year.  It is one of the most prestigious events on the international circuit and organised by Edinburgh Photographic Society,  this is its 158th year.  Agnes Clark LRPS from our club has featured in the exhibition before and this year her Black & White print,  Muscari On China,  was accepted.

An even greater series of achievements is Agnes’ successes in the Foto Fusion International Circuit 2022.  Based in India, this highly respected annual event comprises of 4 Salons.  Agnes entered 4 Colour and 4 Mono images achieving 21 Acceptances across the circuit.

Mecanopsis in Vase received an Honourable Mention and Muscari on China received a Chairman’s Choice certificate.  Even more spectacular is the Photographic Society of America Gold Medal awarded to Dicentra.  This is one of the highest awards available to International Salon exhibitors and the first time a Falkirk C.C. photographer has achieved this success.

Another two Prints by Agnes,  Sea Glass & Shells and Orange Vase,  featured in this years Royal Photographic Society Scotland Members’ Print Exhibition.  Also from our club,  Nancy MacArthur ARPS CPAGB featured in that exhibition with Sublime.

Looking ahead to our new season Club President Bob Black has been researching Print display systems.   While jpeg files form a major part of the photographic club world,  a Print has an identity and a life of its own.  Indeed,  in looking at Prints from the earliest days of photography in the mid nineteenth century we can learn as much about the photographer and their processes from the physical presence of the Print as we do from the subject matter of their photograph.  The new Print display system will be well used.

Hope to see you at Falkirk Bowling Club on Thursday 1st September at 7:30pm for the first meeting of our 2022 – 2023 season.

Take care.
