F.C.C. photographers have been active on the International Exhibition and Salon of Photography Circuit. Janet Hoggan achieved 4 Acceptances in the 13th Arctic Exhibition of Photographic Art. She also gained 14 Acceptances in the 4 Salons of the German International Photocup circuit with Vegetarian Kingfisher awarded an Honourable Mention.
Agnes Clark LRPS achieved 5 Acceptances in the 3 Salons of the Legends of Future Circuit 2023 in Bangladesh. Geof Longstaff CPAGB achieved 9 Acceptances in the same event and was awarded a Star Award for all 4 submissions in the Landscape section of Salon PPS being accepted.
Last Thursday night we were joined by Chris Bonnington DPAGB BPE3, a member of Carluke Camera Club and the Scottish Photographic Circle. His talk was based around his portfolio of Prints so it was a joy to welcome him to Falkirk on Thursday where, after 2 years online, the return of Prints has been a highlight. Chris works in both Black & White and Colour, with the clarity of his images being immediately apparent.
He kindly brought his panel of Prints which achieved his DPAGB distinction. It contained images of great character and a wide variety of subject matter including Sport, Portraiture, and Landscape. An image of an elderly lady on her boat in the far east was particularly endearing while the subtle pastel tones of a rose bush at the end of a row of vines was particularly relaxing to view with the viewer being drawn into its calm environs.
Rannoch Moor is a popular area for photographers yet Chris’s high key image with just a hint of colour was inspiring in its composition and atmosphere. Chris makes careful choices regarding point of focus, aperture and shutter speed, and his images will often reflect the movement and character of his subject.
With the Spring light now appearing at each end of the day this was an inspiring and motivating presentation, with Chris explaining his methods and processes for the benefit of the audience.
