Weekly Roundup – 13th April

Last Thursday night was a really interesting look at the work and projects on which individual club members have recently been working.

In technical terms there are 2 main Colour Profiles for colour image files.  The most widely used is sRGB,  s for standard,  with the RGB part standing for Red Green & Blue so Charles Woodford set himself the task of producing a series of photographs consisting of those three colours.  Utilising the objects themselves and clever lighting Paper Clips,  Frosted Glass,  and an Inuit figure were each used to produce highly creative and thought provoking images.  Martin Harrower’s post-processing skills were on view next as he explained how his images were constructed and he was followed by the results of Steve Sommerville’s detective work in tracing rare and colourful fungi native to Falkirk district.

Ian Pratt demonstrated striking local landscape photography featuring a sunset from above Bo’ness while Bob Black’s photograph of a helicopter landing on a supply ship at sea,  while he was strapped to the open doorway of another in-flight helicopter,  was impressive.  Equally impressive were his photographs of a Formula One car at speed and of Singapore at night.

Geof Longstaff’s outstanding Black & White photographs of water and of the engine of a classic care,  ( his filter shot  🙂 ),  were followed by Stuart Pearson who illustrated how just a portion of an image file could be used to create impressive images.  Finally,  Ronnie Anderson’s dramatic photographs of Utah and Arizona portrayed a spectacular landscape and was coupled with Ronnie’s narrative on it’s part in the motion picture industry.

All club members are invited to our Annual General Meeting on Thursday 17th April with the following week,  24th April,  the final weekly meeting of this season.

Take care,  and thanks for looking in.
