Weekly Roundup – 12th October

Learning about the technical and artistic aspects of photography,  both informally and formally,  and sharing ideas and knowledge about photography is what we do. Our club Constitution puts it a bit more officially:  The principle purpose of the Club is the advancement of the art,  heritage,  culture and science of photography.

Last Thursday

Club member Graeme Barclay’s portfolio stretches from Sport to Wildlife to Street Photography and onwards.  During the first half of his presentation last Thursday night he introduced his 10 week series of learning programmes for club members which start on a separate evening this week. Dealing with both the technical and artistic elements of the medium the course will be beneficial to both new and practised photographers.

During the second half of the evening Graeme talked about his particular brand of Street Photography.  Explaining how total familiarity of camera controls was a necessity he continued that it was important to concentrate fully on the required results and be familiar with the environment in which the photographer is working.  Graeme’s street photographs have a distinctive and original composition concentrating on one aspect of the subject.  His highly informative presentation was enjoyed by all,  and ended with a full question and answer session.

Next week

On Thursday 16th October we welcome Gaille Gray whose Fine Art photography encompasses a wide variety of subjects.

Thanks for looking in.
