Talking Pictures
Falkirk Camera Club has a long tradition of participating in a wide variety of events exploring the wider world of photography outside the photographic club community. One of these is Talking Pictures, which is a joint event with Falkirk Writers Circle.
It started as an exhibition of printed poems and photographs. It has evolved into an evening where the photographer introduces their projected PDI’s in front of which the writer then reads their poetry or prose which has been inspired by the photographers images.
There is a collection folder in PhotoEntry and all F.C.C. members are invited to upload up to 3 PDI’s at the usual size, maximum 1600 x 1200. Please format to sRGB if you can and either camera or mobile ‘phone images are accepted. Photographs may have been taken at any time.
Your photographs should be some which you think might inspire a writer, something around which they might compose a poem or a story. This is not a competition, it’s an exercise in self-expression and your contributions are much appreciated. Please upload your PDI’s by Sunday 16th November. They will all be sent to Falkirk Writers Circle who will make a selection which will be used on Talking Pictures night later this season.

3 From 6
Club members are invited to contribute up to three PDI’s of one topic, different topics, or any point in between from the list below. Photographs may have been taken at any time.
The aim is to produce photographs in your own style and interpret the topic in your own way. Images can be as conventional, abstract or creative as you wish. On 3 From 6 night the photographer introduces their image or images and briefly talks about their motivation for producing them, or, that can be done for you. Club members can then add positive comments.
It’s not a competition and for convenience there is a collection folder in PhotoEntry. All F.C.C. members are invited to upload up to three PDI’s at the usual size, maximum 1600 x 1200. Please format to sRGB if you can and either camera or mobile ‘phone images are accepted.
Closing date for contributions is 11th December 2025 with 3 From 6 night a few weeks later. You will see it in the new season’s Syllabus on the club website.
If you have any questions, from content to file sizing, then please just ask.
Topics 2025 – 2026
Autumn or Winter in Callendar Park & Estate
You may already have images of, or we may get snow before, the hand in date. Plenty of other opportunities too. Bleak landscapes, harsh sunlight highlighting textures or creating shadows, the graphic outline of leafless trees, people, or wildlife on the lake ( To tempt birdlife to the right spot for your composition be sure to use proper bird food, often available from supermarkets, or the R.S.P.B. Please don’t use bread. ). Photographs taken inside Callendar House are another option.
A Patch of Red
A useful compositional tool is to position a patch of red in the frame.
Photograph A Feeling
Happiness, Sadness, Despair, Frustration, Surprise etc etc. You choose.
Falkirk Trinity Church
Photograph this historic church in the town centre. Inside or outside, daytime or at night. With their permission, perhaps the staff or leisure interest groups like ourselves, choirs or musicians who use the building might present another opportunity. The relationship between the church and the surrounding town centre might be another approach.
Multiple Exposures
The subject matter is up to you, the only rule is that there is more than one exposure in the frame. Could be 2, could be 10, could be 50. Any number which you choose.
Quirky or Observational
Could be an unusual scene, something you don’t see every day. Might be your interpretation of a common event.
