Talking Pictures

Last week we welcomed our friends from Falkirk Writers Circle for the annual Talking Pictures evening.  This joint event began almost 35 years ago as an exhibition when pieces of writing from Falkirk W.C.,  inspired by photographs from Falkirk C.C.,  were displayed alongside the photographic Prints.

It’s now a live event so,  in front of the projected photograph,  the photographer takes a few minutes to talk about their photograph and is followed by the writer who reads their poetry or prose.  Several months ago we gave the writers some photographs.  They distribute the photographs among their members sight unseen so the writer only sees their allocated image on receipt.

The writing can be thought provoking,  or amusing.  The writer might construct a story around the photograph,  or produce something informative or reflective.  It’s one of the season’s favourite events,  much enjoyed by both groups.

Falkirk Writer’s Circle and Falkirk Camera Club Exhibition – Callendar House

Sincere thanks to everyone,  both within and outwith both clubs for your kind and positive comments about our joint exhibition.  It’s in the ground floor turret in Callendar House with the theme of Autumn in Callendar Park.  The exhibition shows the autumn colours,  the wildlife,  and the way the park is used using photographs from Falkirk C.C. and poetry and prose from Falkirk W.C.

Thanks for looking in.
