An Evening With ……………
Last Thursday night we had the opportunity of enjoying the photography of two of Falkirk Camera Club’s longest serving club members. Peter Easton joined in 1958. Also working with colour slides his speciality is Prints, both black & white and colour, and over the first half of the evening he showed and spoke about how his photography had evolved over the years. Portraits from the 1950’s and early 1960’s reflected the trends and fashions of the times and it was interesting to note how Peter’s photographic style evolved over the years, always ahead of prevailing styles. Peter’s meticulous technical control and precision printing were a constant feature throughout his portfolio demonstrating a detailed understanding of the photographic process.
Geof Longstaff joined Falkirk C.C. in 1982. In addition to Prints, over the years he has excelled in the production of colour slides, then Projected Digital Images, and Audio Visual sequences gaining a CPAGB/AV distinction from the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain. Geof’s colour images demonstrated an originality of thought. A prime example was a still life of a red and a yellow pepper. He had meticulously carved a set of sergeant’s stripes from the yellow pepper and inserted them into equally meticulously carved spaces in the red pepper. A photographic Sgt Pepper.
