3 From 6

  • Season 2025 – 2026: 3 From 6

Club members are invited to contribute up to three PDI’s of one topic, different topics, or any point in between from the list below. Photographs may have been taken at any time.

The aim is to produce photographs in your own style and interpret the topic in your own way.  Images can be as conventional,  abstract or creative as you wish.  On 3 From 6 night the photographer introduces their image or images and briefly talks about their motivation for producing them.  Club members can then add positive comments.

It’s not a competition,  but for convenience contributions can be uploaded to the 3 From 6 section on PhotoEntry,  now open.  Please size your images to the usual size,  maximum 1600 x 1200.  Closing date for submissions is 11th December 2025 with 3 From 6 night a few weeks later.  You will see it in the new seasons Syllabus on the club website.

If you have any questions then please just ask.

    Topics 2025 – 2026

Autumn or Winter in Callendar Park

We always hope for a colourful or atmospheric autumn or you may already have images of,  or we may get snow before the hand in date.  Plenty of other opportunities too. Bleak landscapes,  harsh sunlight highlighting textures or creating shadows,  the graphic outline of leafless trees,  people,  or wildlife on the lake  ( to tempt the birdlife to the right spot for your composition be sure to get some bird food from the supermarket or R.S.P.B.,  please don’t use bread ).  Photographs taken inside Callendar House are another option.  You might like to know that our friends at Callendar House love the drone shots,  which will feature in our forthcoming exhibition there.

    A Patch of Red

A useful compositional aid is to position a patch of red in the frame.

    Photograph A Feeling

Happiness,  Sadness,  Despair,  Frustration,  Surprise  etc etc.  You choose.

    Falkirk Trinity Church

Photograph this historic church in the town centre.  Inside or outside, daytime or at night.  With their permission,  perhaps the staff or leisure interest groups like ourselves,  choirs or musicians who use the building might be interesting.  The relationship between the church and the surrounding town centre might be another approach.

    Multiple Exposures

The subject matter is up to you,  the only rule is that there is more than one exposure on the frame.  Could be 2,  could be 10,  any number which you choose.

    Quirky or Observational

Could be an unusual scene,  something you don’t see every day.  Might be your interpretation of a common event.
