Weekly Roundup – 16th February

Monthly Competition No. 4

Competitions are an integral part of life in many community organisations.  Choral groups,  Drama groups,  Writers groups,  Art groups et al have internal and external competitions but the real benefit is to get feedback on our work,  be it sung,  acted,  written,  painted or photographed.

We are all indebted to those more experienced practitioners who give of their time to deliver talks or to critique the work of others.  It’s not an easy task.  They have to structure their presentation or if judging,  recognise the work undertaken by the participants,  offer constructive comments about the entries,  and motivate participants to continue in their chosen pursuit.

In this post pandemic world such volunteers are lower in number than before so,  whatever your type of organisation,  please think about how you might contribute.

Last Thursday we were indebted to Eddie Telford from Ayr Photographic Society who judged our 4th Monthly Competition of this season. Eddie thoughtfully provided copies of his notes for everyone and his clear and concise comments were much appreciated by all.
