Uzbekistan

Last Thursday evening we welcomed Duncan Gray from Kirkintilloch Camera Club.  A former professional sports photographer his specialities were motorsport,  hockey and rugby.  These days he travels widely photographing cities,  landscapes and places of interest.

The topic of his presentation was Uzbekistan,  a fascinating country in central Asia,  whose capital Tashkent was almost entirely rebuilt during a 3 year period following a major earthquake in the mid 1960’s.  It was a 7 hour flight from the UK and Duncan’s photographs illustrated a vibrant and friendly city.  He spoke warmly about the people and recommended the country as a place to visiit.  Duncan’s photographs were cleverly composed,  conveying the architecture and character of the country.  Also this week,  we have been liaising with National Galleries Scotland over a group photographer from 1926 whose work they hold.  Our investigations continue.
