Weekly Roundup – 3rd September

Club members have enjoyed a busy summer with photo-walks around local landmarks,  into the countryside and cities of north and central Scotland and out to the Isle of May.  A pre-season studio and still-life workshop in August was our first gathering of the new season and we look forward to resuming weekly events at Falkirk Bowling Club at 7:30pm on Thursday 14th September.

We know that coming along to a new group for the first few times can be a bit daunting.  Fortunately we all have a common interest so,  whether you use the camera in your ‘phone,  a compact camera,  or a camera that allows you to change lenses you are welcome to drop in.  See the New Members Welcome link on our homepage and please use the Contact Us facility therein for any questions.

On 14th September we hold a Welcome evening when we’ll explain a little of what we do and the type of events you can expect.  We’ll also have look at some of the photographs we’ve been taking over the summer months.  Wildlife photographer Stephen Rodger ARPS is our first visiting speaker of the new season on 21st September.  Stephen is a double Silver and double Gold medal winner in the Scottish Nature Photography Awards and will be giving advice on improving our wildlife photography.  At a Members Night on 28th September Peter DeMarco will be demonstrating his post-processing skills on members’ images  ‘ live ‘  in what promises to be a fascinating evening.  Outer Space is our destination on 5th October when Graeme Barclay discusses Astro Photography.  See the Syllabus section,  under the Information tab for a list of some of the new seasons events.    Details of Workshops will be circulated separately.

Our 2023 – 2024 season has a theme,  the first time one has been designated,  of Processing & Printing.  In addition to workshops on camera handling & techniques we will hold additional discussion groups on post-processing and printing.  Our club has a long tradition in producing and exhibiting photographic prints so we hope to introduce new members to this aspect of photography.

F.C.C. members have wide and varied interests in different genres of photography with Still Life,  Portraiture,  Natural History,  Landscape,  Sport and Street Photography being just some of the topics we see.  So,  if you have an interest in photography and would like to learn more,  you are welcome to come along.
