Weekly Roundup – 14th January

Last Thursday night Bob Black wished everyone a Happy New Year and welcomed club members,  old and new,  to the first meeting at our new venue in Falkirk Trinity Church. The evening then started with a short business meeting.

Our photographic year started with Dave Ferguson hosting a discussion on recent critiques of member’s images by visiting judges.  We are always grateful to visiting judges and lecturers so,  using post-processing programmes,   Dave demonstrated the effect that various post-processing suggestions had on some of the images.  The Radial filter had been mentioned during adjudication on a number of occasions so that was of particular interest.  Dave then moved on to more general post-processing techniques,  expanding the use of the Radial filter and clearly demonstrating the various ways in which Masking could be used to enhance parts of an image.

Huge congratulations are due to Agnes Clark LRPS for more successes on the International Salon and Exhibition of Photography circuit.  This time in the JSP Circuit in India,  one of that country’s premier photographic events.

Agnes achieved 5 Acceptances with Layers awarded a Jury Choice award plus a separate Circuit Merit award.  Muscari on China received an FS Gold Certificate plus a separate Circuit Chairman’s Choice Medal.  Shades of Green received an FS Gold Certificate plus a separate Jury Choice award.  Stairwell received a Circuit Merit award.

This is a significant achievement by Agnes !   As you know the top 5 photographers,  ever,  from the 135 year history of the main photographic group in Falkirk on the International Salon & Exhibition of Photography circuit are current F.C.C. members.  All are a massive source of inspiration and source of help & advice.  They are:  Geof Longstaff CPAGB;  Agnes Clark LRPS;  Nancy MacArthur ARPS CPAGB;  Derek Forrest; and Janet Hoggan.

We look forward to welcoming George Robertson to our club on 18th January.  A accomplished mountaineer,  George’s illustrated lecture is titled The Snows of Kilimanjaro.  The evening starts at 19:30 at Falkirk Trinity Church,  Manse Pl.,  Falkirk.  FK1 1JN.

Take care and thanks for looking in.
