Monthly Competition No. 1
Last Thursday we welcomed back Peter de Marco. Chairman of the Glasgow & District Photographic Union, Committee member at Eastwood Photographic Society and a friend of our club. Peter delivered his adjudication of Monthly Competition No. 1 and the first round of our Knockout competition. Peter is a highly accomplished photographer and a particular expert in the art of producing the photographic Print as well as Projected Digital Images. These days we are all accustomed to looking at digital files on our ‘phones, tablets, laptops or desktop computers. Looking at a Print, be it a family photograph or in an art gallery, is a different experience creating a connection between the viewer and the photographer or artist.
Most photographic clubs have regular competitions but perhaps ‘ competition ‘ is not the correct description. They are an opportunity to listen to feedback from an accredited assessor with a wide technical and interpretive knowledge. In addition to an assessor’s views on our own Print or PDI, we often recognise helpful information which has been applied to other images in the event.
Peter’s strength at these events is that he analyses an image from the photographers perspective and offers comments which pivot on what the photographer is aiming to convey.
We are always indebted to visiting assessors and lecturers and extend our sincere thanks to Peter for the significant amount of time which he spent analysing our work.

69th Maitland International Salon of Photography 2025
Patronage from the Australian Photographic Society, the PSA, FIAP and the GPU with 3 Print sections: Colour Prints ( PSA -PPD-CA Large Prints; Monochrome Prints ( PSA -PPD-MA Large Prints ); Nature Prints ( Colour or Monochrome, PSA-ND Large Prints ), and 3 Projected Digital Image sections: Colour Digital ( PSA-PIDC ); Monochrome Digital. ( PSA-PIDM ); Nature Digital ( Colour or Monochrome, PSA-ND ). Closing date is 12th January 2025.

Next Meeting
On 31st October we hold our 3rd Member’s Night of the season. These are a great opportunity to look at specific items of interest raised by club members. This week the photographic events will be preceded by a short E.G.M.
