David Queenan
Last Thursday night we welcomed David Queenan, a freelance graphic designer and image maker who is also one of the most successful and recognised photographers operating today. You will find his list of achievements on his website along with many examples of his work including a selection of images taken around Falkirk District. David’s Landscape work demonstrates his keen observance of lighting conditions, often favouring sunrise, coupled with clever compositions which both communicate the character of the scene and tell the story of the life within. David’s commercial work which extends from property to industry and automotive products to business figures mirror David’s skills at communication and relaying information about the subject.
During the second half of the evening David projected images taken on his Smartphone. Rather than spontaneous images, David takes the same care with composition as he does with a conventional camera and similarly, often favours sunrise.
Photographers are naturally curious about how a photograph was taken and David had gone to great lengths to present each image with accompanying technical details. This was much appreciated by all of our club members. We learned much from this evening and look forward to inviting David back to Falkirk.
Visit To Stirling & District C.C.
Over 60 years ago Falkirk Camera Club and Stirling & District Camera Club started holding a joint meeting each year, taking turns to host the event. This year it was our turn to visit Stirling and offer our sincere thanks for their welcome and hospitality. There is generally a friendly competition involved and this year’s judge was Rikki O’Neill from Dundee. Our congratulations to Stirling who are this years winners. Top images from Falkirk were Agapanthus Bud – photographed by Nancy MacArthur ARPS CPAGB, Sparrowhawk – photographed by Catherine Anderson , and My Kind of Rum – photographed by Debra Duncan LRPS.
Take care, and thanks for looking in.
