Weekly Roundup – 23rd October

News this week that two F.C.C. photographers have been successful on the International Salon of Photography circuit.

In the 2nd Princess Photo Contest in Bulgaria Nancy MacArthur ARPS CPAGB achieved 4 Acceptances.  Aliens was awarded an IAAP Ribbon,  Sublime received a Judges Choice award while Smiling Lily and Modern Monet were also accepted into the exhibition.

In the Dingwall International PDI Competition Agnes Clark LRPS achieved 2 Acceptances.  Muscari On China,  a Monochrome image and, Dicentra,  a Colour image were successful.

Congratulations to both photographers.

Last Thursday night we held a Members Night.  They are an opportunity to look at topics which have arisen in conversation or at recent lectures.  This time we began with a look at judging using photographs from a recent Glasgow & District Photographic Union event which included images from F.C.C. photographers.  Using a selection of the G.D.P.U. images we discussed our own thoughts on the images and applied out own scores,  then,  compared them with the actual judges scores and comments.

We then looked at the differences between RGB and sRGB colour systems and the advancements in post-processing programmes,  identifying some training videos on which Club members can follow up.

Next week we welcome John S Pow,  a prolific photographer whose range extends from Abstract to Sport via Wildlife,  Landscape and Astro photography.

Thanks for looking in.
