More successes to report this week on the International Exhibition and Salon of Photography Circuit.

Dicentra,  a Print by Agnes Clark LRPS was Accepted to the Royal Photographic Society’s Digital Imaging Group 2023 exhibition.

Geof Longstaff had 19 Acceptances in the Chianti Roads International Circuit in Italy.  This covers Chianti,  Fiorentini,  Aretini and Senesi.  Little Owl Trio received a Special Mention in Chianti,  and a Jury Special Award in Aretini,  Yellow Cascade also received a Jury Special Award in Aretini.

Ken Lindsay EFIAP  MPAGB  from Eastwood Photographic Society in Glasgow was our guest last Thursday as we entered the penultimate month of our season.  Those distinctions after Ken’s name reflect the particularly high level his photography has reached,  both in artistic interpretation and technical ability.  To those,  add communication as he imparted a vast amount of knowledge and experience during his presentation in his understated and relaxed style.

Landscape photography is one of Ken’s many specialities.  He will leave home in the very early hours of the morning in order to be at his chosen location as the sun rises highlighting the textures,  shapes and forms of the landscape.  Or,  leave home later to be there near the end of daylight hours when the colours and ambience of a landscape has a completely different character.  Ken has an innate understanding,  not only of point of focus with use of shutter speed and lens aperture,  but of the compositional requirements of a photograph.  He goes to great lengths to convey key aspects of a landscape,  drawing the viewer into the scene.

While Scotland is a photographer’s dream,  the dramatic landscape around Machu Piccu is a test for anyone’s sense of adventure and Ken took his camera to the heights of this Peruvian landmark resulting in breathtaking images.  Ken’s attention to detail and preparation also took him to especially interesting areas of Iceland resulting in new and original images from that startling landscape.  Northern Spain provides material for Ken’s architectural photography where,  mixing people with modern architecture results in highly original compositions.  The life and colours of Cuba provide a platform for Ken to demonstrate his ability as a a photographer across many aspects of the medium.

A lively Question & Answer session closed the evening,  with a freshly energised audience eager to head for the hills.
