Welcome to season 2025 – 2026
Club members have continued to meet informally on a Thursday night over the summer. These photo-walks around local landmarks are always popular presenting the opportunity to share, and learn, new and different photographic techniques.
Among the places visited were: Haining Wood; the Kelpies; Larbert Loch; Bo’ness Foreshore; RSPB Skinflats; the Pineapple; Culross; Kinneil Wildlife Reserve; Dollar Park and Callendar Park. That last venue is particularly interesting to us as we will soon present news about a new Falkirk Camera Club and Falkirk Writers Circle exhibition. Watch this space.
We now look forward to the first night of our 2025 – 2026 season at Falkirk Trinity Church in the town centre at 7:30pm on 11th September. Everyone is invited to gather in the café from 7pm onwards. If you are thinking of coming along for the first time please see the New Members Welcome link on the homepage of our website and use the Contact Us facility for any questions.
We know that coming along to a new group for the first few times can be a bit daunting. Fortunately we all have a common interest so, whether you use the camera in your ‘phone, a compact camera, or an interchangeable lens camera you are welcome to drop in. The first meeting is a President’s Welcome Evening when we’ll explain a little of what we do and we’ll also have look at a few photographs. Hope to see you there.
This season brings a really exciting range of new visiting photographers discussing and sharing their methods and techniques. On Thursday 18th September we welcome Thomas, the Kilted Photographer our first visiting speaker of the season. A multi award winning drone photographer Thomas is passionate about photographing and promoting Scotland.
On Thursday 25th September we are joined by Astrophotographer Andrew Allan with an illustrated presentation on Scotland’s night sky. Andrew will talk about his techniques, and how to predict events. The Moon, Milky Way, Northern Lights, Meteor Showers, Lunar Eclipses plus trips to Norway and Iceland will feature during this fascinating evening.
Next, on Thursday 2nd October Documentary Photographer Cameron Scott illustrates how photography records the more serious events in life. Demonstrations and marches highlight a multitude of issues and Cameron specialises in telling their story. His photographs appear in the UK’s largest, and most prominent daily newspapers and his skill at capturing vital moments will be evident. An evening not to be missed.
Our 2025 – 2026 season will include learning programmes on camera handling, techniques and post-processing. F.C.C. photographers have wide and varied interests in different genres of photography with Still Life, Portraiture, Natural History, Landscape, Astrophotography, Sport and Street Photography being just some of the topics we see. So, if you have an interest in photography and would like to learn more, you are welcome to come along. One more point, our new Annual Subscription system makes joining Falkirk C.C. cheaper this season too.
