New Season at Falkirk C.C.
We are really looking forward to our new season of meetings starting in Trinity Church in central Falkirk on Thursday 10th September. Gather in the café from 7pm onwards for a 7:30pm start. The first night is a Welcome Evening where we talk a little about the season ahead and look at some photographs produced over the summer months. Club members have been out and about locally during the summer at locations including Zetland Park, Callendar Park, Beecraigs, Culross, Plean Country Park, the Scottish Lavendar Farm, Polmont Woods, and The Kelpies. There will be more practical events over the coming months.
Falkirk Writer’s Circle and Falkirk Camera Club Exhibition
Our joint exhibition with Falkirk Writer’s Circle is in the ground floor Turret Gallery in Callendar House, entry is free and open from 10am to 5pm. Closed on Tuesdays.
Falkirk C.C. at the Royal Photographic Society
Also on the exhibition scene a Print by Agnes Clark L.R.P.S. was chosen for the Royal Photographic Society’s Scottish Member’s exhibition. Dendrobium Orchid is an atmospheric Still Life where the photographer cleverly echoes the main colour of the Orchid in a lighter and textured tonal background. The softly contrasting hue of a vase, with just enough shape to accentuate the softness of the Orchids is a thoughtful inclusion.
Syllabus 2026 – 2027
Our new syllabus features visits from visiting photographers speaking about the wide world of photography. The week following our Welcome Evening brings Eddie Telford with an appropriately titled presentation, Remember Photography Is Fun. Prolific International Salon exhibitor Peter Paterson visits the following week and we then look forward to a photographic impression of St Kilda – Islands On the Edge of the Earth from Donald Paterson. Highly accomplished photographer George Robertson visits in October when we also visit the Macro photography world of David Hamilton. Lesley Baxter, Debra Duncan and Ronnie Anderson bring the colour, shapes and atmosphere if India when they visit in November and Julien Elliot arrives from Vietnam in January. Paul McDougall is a guest in February before Frank Owens provides a fascinating look at the Falkland Islands on 11th March.
We will also welcome International Exhibitors Gordon Jenkins and Wendy Stowell to deliver our first Joan Clarke Memorial Lecture in November which also features an evening with Peter Easton and Geof Longstaff.
If that wasn’t enough we have visits to other photographic groups in central Scotland, a few competitions, Talking Pictures with Falkirk Writer’s Circle, an opportunity to photograph something different at 3 From 6 and advice on photography over coffee and during meetings.
